Preparing - Final night in Montreal
It's just surpassed midnight and has become Saturday, October 1st -- the day of my departure.
I must confess I didn't think this day would ever arrive. Anything and almost everything that could have become a problem, became a problem. It would seem after a complete overhaul of the engine of my bike followed by endless amounts of money, my bike is finally ready. I had a good scare last night, however, when an old friend decided to visit me again -- the dreaded overheating light on my bike. However this was quickly resolved today at the garage and everything is A1.
From day one I had always been mentally prepared for such a trip, but after experiencing the past week of running around, rushing this, finishing that, buying supplies... I realized that there was a lot more involved than simply preparing yourself mentally... I still have so many things to do and a backpack that is BURSTING at the seams, with tomorrow's early morning departure looming before me, I wonder if I'll ever get out of Montreal.
Nevertheless, I am ready. Tomorrow morning at ten, or so, I will ride to Toronto as the beginning of a trip that will hopefully become a five week adventure through the depths of Mexico. I had initiatly always wanted to leave for at least six months through all of Latin America (Mexico.. Central America... and especially South America.) However as the months slipped by as I dreamed of this trip, it became very clear that this dream would have to wait -- as I noticed the funds were depleting from my bank rather than accumulating. I also began to understand why the majority of people that accomplish said dream are usually in their mid-forties -- financial stability.
Fortunately I'm at least seeing most of what Mexico has to offer, if only briefly. I have good company, a friend of mine, Mihai, will be joining me for the entire duration of the trip. I'm not entirely certain if this will help add to our safety as I suspect he may be crazier than I.... more on that later ;-)
This week has been quite the chore, saying 'Ciao' to all of my friends and family. There are still many that I haven't had the opportunity to see, however I hope you all enjoy the fall and the joys of raking leaves!!
Sweet dreams, Montreal.

Hi Jason,
I have a lot of catch up to do. Well, I find interesting the way you write. I have seen only one picture (the first one) and I will still take some time to look the others but you know, the more you are getting older the more you seem to not have enough time to do your things. It is 9:48 p.m. I am home and I had planned to do many things except looking at your site... I guess this is the beauty of life... Never expecting things to happen but just enjoy them. Congradulations for your dream to come true and your nice site and your good stories. Tourlou ! Danielle
